The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Tollywood star Prosenjit Chatterjee for questioning on July 19 in connection with the Rose Valley fund default scam.

Sources said Chatterjee had been asked to turn up at the ED office in CGO Complex in Salt Lake. ED officers said his statement would be recorded under Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Chatterjee featured in Hangover, one of the award-winning films made by Brand Value Communication, the production firm of Rose Valley Group CMD Gautam Kundu. The ED has purportedly found out that the movie was made for a small amount of less than Rs 5 lakh.

Chatterjee said the notice had been served on his company, Idea Locations and Production Private Limited.

“It was given to my company. I am a responsible citizen of India and I respect all laws of India. If they (ED) seek any help from me or my company, I will cooperate,” he said.

Sources said the ED would question Chatterjee about Rs 2.75 crore that Idea Locations and Production Private Limited had allegedly received from the Rose Valley group between 2010 and 2011. The company had allegedly undervalued the film’s production cost and used the money collected from depositors to fund the movie.
