The Enforcement Directorate has summoned actress Rituparna Sengupta next week in connection with the Rose Valley deposit-default scam.

The summons was issued a day after the ED called actor Prosenjit Chatterjee — with whom Rituparna has starred in many films — over the same case.

“We have summoned Rituparna Sengupta in connection with the Rose Valley scam. She has been asked to appear next week,” an ED source said.

According to sources in the central agency, Rose Valley had allegedly spent on several foreign trips of Rituparna. The actress could not be contacted for comment on the summons.

Prosenjit has been asked to appear before the ED at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake on July 19. Sources said his statement would be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Earlier this year, film producer Shrikant Mohta had been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the Rose Valley scandal.

The agency is investigating allegations that Rose Valley had laundered funds collected from common people through deposit-mobilisation schemes. According to the ED, Rose Valley had illegally collected nearly Rs 17,000 crore on the promise of exorbitant returns.
