In a move to broaden conversations around environmental care, Doctors' Choice organized a spectacular World Environment Day celebration at Alipore Zoological Gardens on Wednesday. The spotlight shone brightly on the majestic animals that grace our planet, with the company adopting ten animals at the Alipore Zoo, committing to their well-being and underscoring the critical role animals play in our ecosystem.

The event was chaired by Smt. Birbaha Hansda, Hon’ble MoS(IC) Forests, SHG, and Consumer Affairs, adding a layer of prestige and official support to the initiative.

The ceremony kicked off on a sultry afternoon with a formal welcome by Sri Saurabh Chowdhury, MS, WBZA, who announced the adoption of the animals. Shivam Agarwal, Head of Marketing and Communications, delivered an impassioned speech emphasizing individual contributions to environmental conservation, no matter how small they might seem.

“Sustainability is the need of the hour,” declared Mr. Surya Agarwal, Head of IT at Doctors’ Choice, during his address. This sentiment was echoed by Mr. Bijay Agarwal, MD and CEO, who stressed the need for humanity to redefine progress by integrating sustainable practices into everyday life to protect the planet's wildlife.

The event was not just a formal occasion but a vibrant celebration, featuring tree-planting activities aimed at greening the zoo's premises and a dynamic quiz competition for students from various schools and colleges. These activities not only educated the young attendees about environmental conservation but also engaged them in a meaningful way.

In collaboration with Calcutta Round Table 4, Doctors’ Choice hosted 250 underprivileged children, providing them with an enriching experience and the opportunity to participate in the World Environment Day celebrations. The joy and excitement of the children were palpable, especially as they received branded t-shirts recognizing the zoo caretakers' dedication and hard work.

A noteworthy outcome of the event was the pledge by several educational institutions across the city to adopt more animals at the Alipore Zoo, demonstrating a city-wide commitment to wildlife conservation spurred by Doctors’ Choice’s pioneering efforts.

However, the true essence of the day was captured in the eyes of the children who attended, brimming with enthusiasm and a newfound resolve to protect the environment and its inhabitants. Their eagerness to make a difference heralds a promising future for both environmental and wildlife conservation efforts.

Through this initiative, Doctors’ Choice has not only set a commendable example of corporate responsibility but has also broadened the scope of environmental discussions to include the welfare of animals, urging society to take a more holistic approach to conservation.
