“The school also introduced four robots today. Students here will now have the opportunity to study AI and coding at the labs. The robots that we have, will work on computer programmes prepared by students,” said Anisha Sharma, the school’s principal.

According to her, students from classes IX to XII can now opt for AI and coding
as subjects.

“This endeavour will enhance the learning experiences of the students. At the school level, they can learn the basics of these subjects,” she added.

Anirban Biswas, head of the Centre for Information & Resource Management at North Bengal University, said AI and coding labs in schools provide several benefits
to students.

“A practical experience in coding helps students understand complex concepts. Students will gain valuable technical skills, such as programming, problem-solving, and data analysis, which are highly sought after in today’s job market,” he said.

“Working on AI and coding projects will encourage students to think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions. Exposure to these subjects will also prepare students for future careers in technology, engineering, data science, and other fields,” added Biswas.
