A crocodile was spotted on the bank of a pond at the remote village of Patharpratima in the Sunderbans on Thursday morning.

The residents of Mandalgheri area of Achintya Nagar gram panchayat immediately informed the Ramganga forest range about the crocodile.

The foresters said the crocodile had come from a nearby river and they had set up a team to rescue the animal.
