As the team frisked their luggage, 21.850 kilos of cannabis were found. On Tuesday, the duo were handed over to the GRP with the contraband. The cost of the recovered cannabis is around Rs 2 lakh, said sources.

‘Trespassers’ held

The BSF posted at the Bangladesh border in South Dinajpur apprehended two women, who are Bangladeshi residents of Dinajpur, on Monday afternoon. The duo were trying to enter Bangladesh from India through an unfenced area of the border. Three cell phones were recovered from them. Later, they were handed over to Hili police.

The BSF caught Sukumar Saha, a resident of Rainagar village of the same district, on Monday afternoon, who was headed from Balurghat to Trimohani, with 100 bottles of cough syrup concealed in his two-wheeler. Saha allegedly planned to smuggle those to Bangladesh. He was later handed over to the police.

The BSF also conducted raids across north Bengal from July 23 to 25 and seized different items including cattle and cough syrup, worth Rs 6.27 lakh.
