The Indian Tea Association (ITA) — largest association of tea planters in the country — in association with Unicef will host a webinar on Covid management in Calcutta on Saturday.

Sources in the ITA said it was necessary to create awareness among the tea population of north Bengal so that they remain prepared to face any adversity due to the pandemic.

“Tea garden managers, welfare and medical officers, and other health functionaries posted in the gardens of Dooars, Terai and Darjeeling will attend the event virtually. Discussions will be held as to how the industry should function during the pandemic situation. Unicef will provide a team of specialist doctors who will prepare healthcare workers to handle the third wave of Covid-19 in a superior manner,” said Sanjoy Bagchi, secretary of the Dooars branch of the ITA.
