The Siliguri Municipal Corporation will launch a helpline on Thursday for citizens to get information about Covid-19 and to avail themselves of medical assistance from Thursday.
The helpline (80162-77748) will be operational from 8am to 8pm every day, said Shankar Ghosh, a member of the board of administrators at the SMC.
“Covid cases are rising in Siliguri and we have been hearing about people facing different inconveniences. In fact, many of them have no idea about how to reach the nearest hospital or what to do if anybody develops symptoms of a suspected coronavirus infection. That is why a helpline will be launched on July 23. People can also get assistance like ambulance facilities and teams to collect swab samples through the helpline,” said Ghosh.
In the past 24 hours, 183 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in north Bengal, while 208 patients were released after treatment. Four people died in the region in the past 24 hours.
