The Bengal chief minister has said she will hold a meeting with different chambers of commerce and representatives of MSME sectors on Thursday, hinting that the state government could consider relaxation for some more sectors if the 21-day lockdown is extended.
“(If the lockdown is extended) people will face problem. The people are already facing trouble particularly those who are in unorganised sector and daily wage earners. We will hold a meeting with chambers, MSME sector, hotel and tourism sector tomorrow,” Mamata Banerjee said at Nabanna on Wednesday.
She said the government has set up three task forces to look after different issues like restrictions and relaxation, financial issues and enforcement-related issues during the lockdown.
Sources in the state administration said Mamata made her intention clear by setting up the task forces amid speculations that the lockdown could be extended. “She made it clear that she would consider giving relaxation to some more sectors particularly the areas which are labour intensive if the 21-day lockdown is extended,” said a source.
