The 55-year-old tribal woman, who was found dead at a village in South Dinajpur district, was strangled to death by her step-brother, senior police officials said here on Saturday.
The victim, who had come to her father’s place under Kumarganj police station, went missing on Wednesday. On Thursday night, her body was found near a temple in a neighbouring village.
“Her step-brother Robin Tudu killed her over some family issue. He initially hit her with a stone and then strangled her. Robin has been arrested,” said South Dinajpur SP Rahul Dey.
Police sources said Robin had asked for some money from his step-sister, which she refused to hand over.
