Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his attack against Trinamul's "violence and malpractices" during and after the July 8 rural polls.

Some issues that Mamata flagged in her rebuttal:

Manipur: Mamata asked Modi to tell people about his duty as a Prime Minister to bring peace to Manipur. "Before you speak on violence in Bengal, you should say what you did in Manipur for the past three months.... Manipur has been burning for the past 100 days. If the PM cannot control law and order in a small state like Manipur, how can he run the entire country?"

Poll violence: Mamata referred to uncontested victories in BJP-ruled Tripura and Uttar Pradesh to counter Modi's comment that non-Trinamul candidates in Bengal faced difficulty in filing nominations. "He should answer why the Opposition was not allowed to contest in 93 per cent of seats in Tripura in the rural polls. He should answer why 40 per cent of the seats in Uttar Pradesh were won by them (the BJP) uncontested....If there was violence in Bengal's rural polls, how were 2.31 lakh nominations filed (by Opposition candidates)?"

Election commission: Mamata attacked Modi over a bill that seeks to replace the Chief Justice with a Union cabinet minister in a panel to select the Chief Election Commissioner. "Do you want to hijack the EVM? Or, do you want to manipulate the entire election process? Team INDIA (alliance) will oust you...."

Amartya Sen: Mamata pointed out how the authorities of Visva-Bharati, where Modi is the Chancellor, tried to snatch a part of land from Nobel laureate Amartya Sen. "You did not spare even Amartya Sen....You fear the intellect of Bengal," she said.
