A road connecting the eight-storied car parking lot in Sector V’s AQ Block with the Salt Lake Bypass will be constructed by the Sector V authorities.

The new road will be built as the Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) expects the multi-level parking lot that is likely to open within the next few months to become popular.

The decision to build the new road was taken at an NDITA board meeting last week, an official said.

The new road alignment will be from the recently commissioned Street number 36 from the site of the car parking plaza to the Salt Lake Bypass near the Technopolis bus stop, the official added.

Debashis Sen, the NDITA chairman, said that the road would serve as an important outlet for airport-bound traffic.

“Although the length of the connecting road is around 200m it will serve as a crucial link for vehicles headed to the airport-bound flank of the Salt Lake bypass,” Sen said.

According to him, a tender for building the road will be floated soon. The road is going to have two lanes with a narrow median divider, said another NDITA official

The exiting Street number 36 connects the under-construction parking plaza at AQ 11 to the ring road facing the water bodies behind Sector V.

Now airport-bound traffic from the SDF building intersection has to drive down Street number 18 through College More and RS Software bus stop before heading towards the Technopolis intersection from where they can get on to the New Town-bound flank of the Major Arterial Road.
