The ICSE council has asked its schools to provide information on their strategies and methods for online teaching and on the syllabus covered so far.

The information will help the council plan for the 2021 and 2022 exams.

The council on Friday gave every school head two questionnaires.

One of them deals with questions on teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation methods and strategies followed by schools during the lockdown.

The second questionnaire seeks information on the syllabus. School heads will have to answer the questions in consultation with subject teachers.

After declaring the results of this year’s ICSE and ISC exams, the council has started planning for 2021 and 2022, Gerry Arathoon, CISCE chief executive and secretary, said in the letter to school heads. The questionnaires will help in the planning.

The council had recently reduced the syllabuses for Classes IX to XII students who would take the ICSE and ISC exams in 2021 and 2022. The syllabuses have been reduced for Classes VI to VIII.

Many students and teachers had complained to the council that the reduction was “insignificant”.

How schools are planning to cover the syllabus, problems faced by them in teach-ing students online, and whether online tests are being held regularly are some of the information sought by the council, some school principals said.

“The council is likely to rethink about further reduction in the syllabus after getting feedback from schools,” a school principal said.
