A 30-year-old man from Madhyamgram was arrested for allegedly snatching a woman’s gold necklace while she was out on her morning walk on the fringes of Rajarhat.

Shabir Khan was arrested following a complaint lodged by 57-year-old Bani Mondal, an officer of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said.

The necklace was snatched on October 1, the officer said. “Mondal had stepped out of her house around 6am. Khan, who was following her on a motorcycle, snatched her necklace from behind and sped away before she could raise an alarm,” he said.
