The CBI has asked Calcutta police commissioner Rajeev Kumar to appear for questioning on Saturday in Shillong in connection with the Saradha probe, sources in the central agency said.
A 10-member CBI team is being dispatched to Calcutta, some of whom could be deployed for questioning Kumar at the agency’s office in Shillong in line with Supreme Court orders earlier this week.
The team is led by superintendent of police Jagroop S. Gusinha.
An order issued with the approval of new CBI director R.K. Shukla said the 10-member team should report to joint director (Calcutta) Pankaj Srivastava by 11am on Friday “where they will be briefed about the task”.
“They should go prepared to stay tentatively up to February 20,” said the order. The apex court is scheduled to hear the matter again on February 20.
Kunal called
The CBI has summoned former Trinamul MP Kunal Ghosh for examination in Shillong in the Saradha case.
Ghosh, earlier arrested in connection with the scam, had written to the central agency claiming that he had “information” on the Bengal investigating officers who had probed the scam earlier.
Sources said the CBI’s questionnaire for Kumar would also include allegations and questions raised by the former MP.
