One copy will be handed over to the airport health office and the other to the bureau of airport immigration, the official said.

On Monday, the airport had handled about 3,700 international arrival passengers. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, Calcutta’s international passenger count has gone down by more than 25 per cent as several flights to China, Vietnam and Bangkok have been suspended.

All passengers from abroad will be screened by thermal cameras for body temperature and examined by doctors for symptoms such as cold and cough.

Metro reported on Tuesday that passengers from Italy, South Korea, China and Iran, where many people have died after being infected with the coronavirus, will be “quarantined” even if they don’t have fever. A health department official used the term “home surveillance”. The duration of home surveillance will be 14 days.

All international passengers arriving at Calcutta airport will be screened for coronavirus, a directive issued by the airport authorities stated.

Airport officials are fearing a huge congestion in the arrival area of the international section because passengers will have to fill in two forms giving details of their travel history and contact details.

Till now, passengers arriving from the affected countries — including China, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Thailand and Malaysia — were being screened.

“Henceforth, all international arrival passengers will be screened for the coronavirus. Passengers will also have to fill in two copies of a self-declaration form on arrival,” an airport official said on Tuesday.
