The alumni association of St Xavier’s College Burdwan in association with The Telegraph has organised a blood donation camp which was graced by a functionary of the Sanjeevani Aash Welfare Organisation.
Named “One Point — a single pint can save three lives, a single gesture can create a million smiles”, was held at the academic building of the college on January 11.
Sanjeevani Aash Welfare Organisation secretary Sanjay Yadav and member Nasima Sultana attended the event. They delivered speeches, stressing the need of blood donation and explaining how a single effort by a person could save many lives. “The audience was astonished after hearing that Yadav had donated blood 48 times, which is nothing less than an achievement,” said a member of the Xavier’s College Alumni Association of Burdwan.
The president of the alumni forum, Fr Dr G. Paul Arockiam, S.J, and the advisor, Fr Sahaya Jude, S.J, also gave speeches.
Almost all the attendees donated blood. A total of 68 units of blood, that is 350ml, were collected at the camp.
The college’s faculty members congratulated the alumni members for the successful completion of the camp.
“We arranged beverages and fruits for all the blood donors and lunch was served for the guests and technicians from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital Blood Bank,” said an organiser.
