The BSF on Sunday nabbed three persons while they were allegedly trying to smuggle cattle from India into Bangladesh through the international border in north Bengal.
The three — two Indians and one Bangladeshi — were handed over to respective police stations.
On Sunday morning, the 98th battalion of the BSF posted at Changrabandha border outpost in Cooch Behar district apprehended Mohammad Alam, a resident of Lalmonirhat district in Bangladesh, along with three cattle.
He was trying to smuggle the cattle into Bangladesh through an unfenced border stretch, BSF sources said.
In South Dinajpur, the 61st battalion of the BSF conducted a special operation in the Dolpara bridge area along the Patiram-Hili highway on Sunday afternoon and nabbed Yonish Fakir and Momin Fakir, both residents of Gaurdighi under the jurisdiction of Hili police station.
The duo were allegedly trying to smuggle cattle from India into Bangladesh. Two cattle were recovered from their possession.
