Border Security Force nabs smuggler, contraband seized in South Dinajpur

The Border Security Force (BSF) posted at the India-Bangladesh border nabbed an Indian smuggler and made some seizures in South Dinajpur on Sunday.

At around 7.20pm yesterday, troops of the 137th battalion of the force posted at Chakgopal border outpost in South Dinajpur nabbed Rubel Sheikh, a resident of Sonadangi-Bangalpara village under the jurisdiction of Itahar police station of the district while he was illegally trying to enter India from Bangladesh. He was later handed over to the Hili police station.

In another incident, troops of the 57th battalion of the central security force posted at the Rasulpur border outpost in the district intercepted an SUV parked in Mamudput village near the border. As they searched the vehicles, they found 1,995 bottles of cough syrup which were supposed to be smuggled to Bangladesh.

The BSF seized the car and the cough syrup bottles, the cost of which is around 14 lakh rupees. Later, those were handed over to the Kumarganj police station.`
