Police, acting on a tip-off, recovered 11 crude bombs from a village under Chanchal police station area of Malda on Saturday night.

On Sunday, the explosives were defused by the bomb disposal squad of CID at a mango plantation. A probe is on.

The bombs were found at a location in Mastipara village, around 200 metres from the Alihonda panchayat office.

Over the past few days, crude bombs have been recovered from a number of locations under the police station.

Last week, 22 crude bombs were found in Ranipur under Kharba panchayat. Before that, seven crude bombs were found n Mahanandapur panchayat area, also in Chanchal.

“All the seized bombs look alike, explosives stuffed into small cylindrical containers,” said a source.

Minors rescued

Two minor boys aged around 10 years have been rescued by Malda police on Saturday from Sabdalpur, a village under Baishnabnagar police station. They were missing since Friday.

Police sources said the boys were abducted and kept at a deserted house. As their parents approached the police, a search was initiated and eventually, the duo were rescued.
