The officer-in-charge of traffic in Birbhum’s Bolpur, Tuhin Jha, 36, was killed after the motorbike he was riding hit a divider on Rabindrabithi bypass in Bolpur town late Monday night.
Eyewitnesses said the police officer, a sub-inspector of police, had received severe head injuries as his head hit an electric post soon after his bike collided with the divider.
Jha, who had earlier served as OC traffic in Rampurhat recently transferred to Bolpur. He was a resident of Englishbazar in Malda and was residing in Bolpur town with his newly married wife.
