“It seems the woman jumped in front of a running train with her daughter. Both died on the spot. We are waiting for post-mortem reports and gathering further details,” said an official of the GRP.

The deceased were Kabita Haldar Gupta, 31, and her three-year-old daughter Sanghamitra.

During the preliminary investigation, the GRP learnt that she had got married to a schoolteacher 10 years back. The GRP found a “suicide” note near the bodies and is examining it, said sources.
