A forensic report in the case of the mysterious death of BJP youth leader Arjun Chowrasia last month was submitted before Calcutta High Court court on Wednesday.

The report indicated that Chowrasia was not murdered and his death was a result of hanging.

It suggested that the deceased had committed suicide.

The state authorities submitted the report to the court in response to a May 8 order seeking information on the current status of the investigation and the forensic findings relating to it.

Chowrasia had been found hanging inside an abandoned railway quarters in Cossipore in the small hours of May 7.

Union home minister Amit Shah, who was touring Bengal at that point of time, rescheduled his itinerary and went to visit the family of the deceased.

He had alleged that Chowrasia was murdered by Trinamul Congress “goons” and had sought a CBI probe into the matter.

On that very day, the BJP moved Calcutta High Court demanding a court monitored post-mortem of the deceased.

The court had ordered that Chowrasia’s post-mortem be done at Command Hospital, a military hospital.

However, the party suffered loss of face when the autopsy report of deceased party worker Chowrasia revealed hanging as the cause of death, something which the state police had also said in their preliminary probe.
