Around 50 BJP supporters, including some local leaders, protested in front of the North Dinajpur district BJP office on Wednesday, seeking the removal of the party’s district chief Basudeb Sarkar.
In recent times, this is the first open protest at the district BJP office, that too against the party’s district chief.
Balaram Chakraborty, a key protester on Wednesday, accused Sarkar of anti-party activities, including his “helping Trinamul to grab panchayats that the BJP had won in 2018”.
Sarkar sounded unfazed and said the BJP had recently served a showcause notice to Chakraborty.
