Bengal saw widespread violence during Saturday's panchayat polls, with at least 17 deaths reported deaths. The Telegraph lists the casualties of violence:

Md Shahenshah, 38, a Trinamul candidate of Vidyanandapur-II panchayat in Chakulia, North Dinajpur, died in a clash on Saturday. Trinamul blamed the Congress, which the latter denied.

Madhab Biswas, 28, a BJP polling agent, was beaten to death at Falimari in Cooch Behar on Saturday. The BJP accused Trinamul, which the latter denied.

Prashanta Karmakar, 55, a state police constable, died of suspected cardiac arrest at a booth in Malda's Baishnabnagar on Saturday.

Sheikh Malek, 33, of Gopalpur in Malda's Manikchak, died in a bombing incident on Saturday. Accused Trinamul denied the charge.

Ganesh Sarkar, 45, a Triamul leader, was lynched in Tufanganj of Cooch Behar on Friday night. Trinamul blamed the BJP, which denied any role.

Chiranjit Kaji, 29, a BJP supporter, died in a firing in Dinhata, Cooch Behar. Accused Trinamul denied any role.

Md Jameruddin, 65, a Congress supporter, was hacked to death in North Dinajpur on Saturday. The Congress accused Trinamul, which denied the charge.

Narayan Sarkar, 55, a Trinamul worker, was found dead in a field in North Dinajpur on Saturday. Trinamul accused the BJP of killing Sarkar. BJP sought an impartial probe.

Trinamul supporter Babar Ali, 32, was hacked to death in Kapasdanga of Murshidabad's Beldanga on Friday. Trinamul blamed Congress, which denied any role.

Sabiruddin Sheikh, 51, a Trinamul worker of Ratanpur in Murshidabad's Khargram, was abducted and killed. His party blamed the Congress, which claimed the death was apolitical.

CPM supporter Raushan Ali, 40, was killed during a clash in Chhaitani of Murshidabad's Lalgola. The CPM blamed Trinamul, which denied the charge.

Liyakat Sheikh, 62, of the Congress was killed in a bombing in Gangadhari in Murshidabad's Nawda on Saturday. Accused Trinamul denied the charge.

Yasin Sheikh, 48, a Trinamul worker from Teghori-Nazirpur village of Murshidabad's Rejinagar died "when a bomb he was carrying burst" on Saturday.

Trinamul polling agent Gautam Roy, 62, from East Burdwan's Katwa died of thrashing. Trinamul leaders filed a murder complaint against CPM workers. CPM claimed Roy died of cardiac arrest.

A CPM worker from East Burdwan's Ausgram, Rajibul Haque, died at SSKM Hospital, Calcutta, on Saturday after getting shot on Friday night. CPM accused Trinamul. Trinamul denied the charge.

Hamzar Ali Halsana, 52, a Trinamul supporter, was hacked near a poll station in Kalyandaha of Nadia’s Chapra. Trinamul accused CPM-Congress of attack, which they denied.

Anisur Ostagar, 52, a Trinamul supporter in Basanti of South 24-Parganas was killed in a bombing. Accused ISF denied any role.
