The heroin weighing 1.3kg is valued at over Rs 1.5 crore.

Arrests of three women from the Northeast in a case involving heroin have alerted authorities to the link between drug cartels in the Northeast and Bengal.

A source in the STF said: “Narcotics trade between Murshidabad and the Northeast states has been on the rise lately. We specifically targeted adjoining regions of NH12 in Omarpur. We are on the lookout for more suspects.”

The arrested four were sent in police custody for 10 days by the Behrampore district court.
