Bengal on Sunday logged 69 Covid19 infections, 118 recoveries and one death, resulting in a drop in the total of active cases by 50 to 1,452.
The positive confirmation rate — the percentage of samples testing positive for the novel coronavirus — was 0.36 per cent on Sunday. The positive confirmation rate has been below 1 per cent for 24 consecutive days.
This was for 44 consecutive days that the state reported a positive confirmation rate of less than 5 per cent in a 24hour period.
Deemed a crucial indicator in the pandemic, a positive confirmation rate of up to 5 per cent is considered tolerable. On January 10, the positive confirmation rate had reached an all-time high for the state at 37.32.
The state’s recovery rate is 98.88 per cent now. Between December 29 and January 16, it had dropped by eight percentage points, before recovering by 8.5 percentage points.
The state’s mortality rate is 1.05 per cent.
Bengal has more than 20.16 lakh cases, since the first was detected two years ago. The total includes nearly 19.94 lakh recoveries and 21,187 deaths.
