Bengal logs 45 new Covid cases, 107 recoveries

The positive confirmation rate has been below 1 per cent for 30 consecutive days and below 5 per cent for 50 consecutive days

Bengal on Sunday reported 45 new Covid-19 infections, 107 recoveries and no death, resulting in a drop in active cases by 62 to 1,023.

The positive confirmation rate — the percentage of samples testing positive for Covid-19 —was 0.46 per cent on Sunday.

The positive confirmation rate has been below 1 per cent for 30 consecutive days and below 5 per cent for 50 consecutive days. Deemed a crucial indicator in the pandemic, a positive confirmation rate of up to 5 per cent is considered tolerable. On January 10, it had risen to an all-time high for the state at 37.32 per cent.

The state’s Covid-19 recovery rate was 98.90 per cent and mortality rate is 1.05 per cent on Sunday.

Bengal has more nearly 20.17 lakh cases since the first was detected two years ago. The total includes over 19.94 lakh recoveries and 21,194 deaths.
