West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday took away the Environment Department from senior minister Manas Ranjan Bhunia, officials said.
Bhunia will, however, continue to hold the portfolio of Water Resources Investigation and Development, they said.
The Environment Department will now be taken care of by the chief minister herself, they added.
With this, Banerjee will be holding nine portfolios, including the all-important Home Department.
