Bangladeshi duo held for trespass

The BSF at the India-Bangladesh border in north Bengal intercepted two Bangladeshi residents from two locations on Sunday while they were allegedly trying to enter their own country illegally from India.

The duo had earlier infiltrated into India and were working in Kerala and Maharashtra.

Around 2.30pm on Sunday, troops of the 57th battalion of the force at the Koitara border outpost in South Dinajpur apprehended Basir Ali, 27,
from Chapai-Nawabganj district of Bangladesh, when he was trying to enter his country illegaly.

Two cell phones and some Indian currency were recovered from him. During interrogation, Ali revealed he had illegally entered India six months ago and was working as a mason in Kerala.

In another incident, Rabiul Hawladar alias Sajid Khan, 23, from Barisal district of Bangladesh, was nabbed by troops of the 15th battalion of the BSF near the Mahadev border outpost in Jalpaiguri district. He was also attempting to enter his own country illegally from India. He said he had entered India illegally in February this year and was working as a tailor at a garments factory in Maharashtra.

Both of them were handed over to local police stations.

Since January 1 this year, BSF troops posted under the north Bengal frontier have apprehended 85 Bangladeshis for various reasons, including illegal trespass and cross-border smuggling.
