Bangladeshi national arrested with Indian ID papers in Jalpaiguri district

Md Mehedi Hasan, 27, from Narsingdi district in Bangladesh, was nabbed by the BSF in Jalpaiguri district on Sunday evening as he tried to infiltrate India.

Some Indian currency, two cell phones and Indian ID proofs were found on him.

During interrogation, he revealed that he came to India in July 2019 on a medical visa for treatment at a private hospital in Delhi. He said he came in contact with Subhash, a resident of Haryana, who helped him get the Indian IDs.

In August 2022, Hasan was apprehended by Haryana police and released from a correctional home in Faridabad Jail in September 2022.

“Hasan is a member of a human organ transplant syndicate active in some hospitals in Faridabad, He also funds transferred through hawala in his account and was working as a translator in some private hospitals in Haryana,” said a source.

Last month, he illegally went to Bangladesh to meet his family. He was trying to enter India when the BSF caught him on Sunday. He was later handed over to Jalpaiguri's Kotwali police.
