Visva-Bharati authorities have invited actor Anupam Kher to deliver a lecture on the campus on Monday.
The lecture titled “Power of Failure” will be held at Lipi - ka auditorium on the campus on Monday afternoon and will be streamed live online.
“Anupam Kher will deliver the 57th lecture in the Visva-Bharati lecture series that was started by vice-chancellor Bidyut Chakrabarty after he joined the varsity in Novem - ber 2018. Kher will reach Visva-Bharati on Monday and deliver his lecture after visiting a few places of the varsity, including Rabindra Bhavana museum,” said a source.
The 68-year-old actor is known for his inclination toward the saffron brigade and his wife Kirron Kher is the BJP MP of Chandigarh. Kher played a major role in The Kashmir Files, which attracted passionate defence and criticism over it being a saffron propaganda machinery film.
“Anupam Kher is a crony of the BJP and Narendra Modi and that is why our VC has invited him for a lecture. It is not the first time he is trying to promote saffron ideology on campus. He uses Visva-Bharati as a platform to please his bosses in Delhi,” said Minakshi Bhattacharyya, the Trinamul Chhatra Parishad unit president in Visva-Bharati.
Visva-Bharati sources, however, said they would continue to invite “globally reputed” people to the campus to address its students.
