The CBI on Friday filed its fourth supplementary chargesheet in the cattle smuggling case in a special court at Asansol, saying arrested Trinamul Congress leader Anubrata Mondal’s daughter and late wife had 53 unaccounted properties and fixed deposits of Rs 18 crore.
The chargesheet filed in the special CBI court also mentioned the names of some rice mills owned by Mondal’s close associates and family members, said sources.
“He (Mondal) has not been cooperating with questions related to assets.... The ED (Enforcement Directorate) will soon interrogate him on matters related to his unaccounted properties and bank fixed deposits,” said a source in the CBI.
The sources said the 53 unaccounted properties and the fixed deposits were in the names of Mondal’s daughter Sukanya and late wife Chabi.
Mondal, the Birbhum district president of Trinamul, had been arrested by the CBI on August 11 in the cattle smuggling case.
He is now in judicial custody at the Asansol correctional home.
