Alipurduar: Forest department organises World Rhino Day

The Jaldapara wildlife division of the Bengal forest department organised a rally at Madarihat in Alipurduar district on the occasion of World Rhino Day on Thursday.

A number of school students, eco guides and cab drivers participated in the rally which was organised to generate awareness among people of rhino conservation.

Another programme was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Oil Corporation where the frontline staff of the department were felicitated for their active participation in rhino protection.

The Jaldapara National Park, which is in Alipurduar district, is the largest habitat of rhinos in the state. As of now, it is home to over 250 one-horned rhinos.
