Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president Aishe Ghosh will inaugurate the Cooch Behar district conference of the SFI here on January 18 during her first visit to the home state after being attacked by alleged ABVP supporters at JNU.
The Durgapur girl will also be present at a public meeting in Cooch Behar on the same day.
“Aishe Ghosh will inaugurate the district conference of the SFI and will also be present at the public meeting. We are all aware of her struggle and thousands of people, particularly youths, want to listen to her,” said Pranay Karjee, the Cooch Behar district secretary of the SFI.
The SFI, student wing of the CPM, hopes Aishe’s popularity will draw a large crowd and launched an extensive campaign across the town and the district.
Even those associated with student outfits of other parties are curious to hear Aishe.
“We want to know what she says and hence will be present near the venue. There might be ideological differences between us and the SFI but we had condemned the attacks on her and other JNU students. We don’t think there is any harm if we go and listen to her,” said a Trinamul Chhatra Parishad worker.
