A seven-year-old boy died after an oil tanker rammed into a two-wheeler driven by his sister at Jabravita, on the outskirts of Siliguri, on Thursday.
Locals said Ankit Sahani died on the spot while his 19-year-old sister was admitted to the North Bengal Medical College & Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said the duo were not wearing helmets. Also, the tanker driver and cleaner have surrendered before them.
Following the accident, locals rushed to the spot and raised a blockade demanding restriction in movement of heavy vehicles through the area.
Ranjan Silsharma, a member of Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority, said the road would be rebuilt soon.
