“The DRI acted on source information and intercepted a bus on Saturday afternoon. The accused was in the bus. They detained him and took him to the DRI office. He was searched and 20 gold bars, weighing 3.32 kilos and worth around Rs 1.71 crore, were found on him,” said Ratan Banik, the lawyer representing the DRI.

Sources said Shaw was carrying the gold pieces in his innerwear. During the initial investigation, the DRI came to know that the gold was smuggled into India through the Myanmar border of the Northeast.
