Darjeeling police arrested two suspects for the murder of Pradip Ojha, 52, a jeweller and former teacher of a reputed ICSE school in Darjeeling.
Last Thursday, Ojha was found severely injured with both hands and feet tied in one of his flats at Guddhi Road by his son and a neighbour. He was declared brought dead at the Darjeeling Sadar hospital.
“Following probe, we arrested suspects Niten Kale, 27 and Ashutosh Gaekwad, 18,” said Ajay G. Kumbhar, additional superintendent of police, Darjeeling.
The suspects, from Maharashtra, are also in the jewellery business and were known to Ojha. “Niten came to Darjeeling years back. Ashutosh came recently,” said Kumbhar.
Police suspect the duo planned robbery but probably committed murder following a face-off after they entered Ojha’s flat.
Ojha used to stay at NB Singh Road but also used to visit his vacant Guddhi Road flat regularly.
