The Border Security Force (BSF) posted at the India-Bangladesh border in north Bengal has intercepted 11 Bangladeshi nationals from two different locations in the past 24 hours.

North Dinajpur district intercepted two Bangladeshis while they were illegally trying to cross the border on Sunday.

The duo has been identified as Mohammad Nober and Anarul, who are from Dinajpur and Kurigram districts of the neighbouring country. The duo had plans to reach Haryana to work as casual workers. Both have been handed over to the police at Kaliyaganj police station.

In another incident, troops of the adhoc NB III battalion of the BSF posted in Cooch Behar district apprehended nine persons, including some minors, from Jaliatary area in Mekhliganj on Monday.

Those nabbed have been identified as Shakib Malik, his wife, a son and a daughter and Abdulla Sheikh, his wife and three daughters. All of them are residents of Jessore district of Bangladesh.

Some Bangladeshi currency and cell phones have been seized from them.

They have been handed over to the police.

Accident

Two persons died and three others suffered injuries when two motorcycles collided on Asian Highway 48 near Jaigaon of Alipurduar district on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Kiran Rai, 47, of Jaigaon and Bikash Prasad Mahato, 24, of Dalsinghpara.

The injured are under treatment at a private nursing home in Cooch Behar.
