Almost 15 years before Mahatma Gandhi wrote, “A flag is a necessity for all nations”, a group of revolutionaries introduced the first Indian flag in Calcutta in 1906. 25 years later, a freedom fighter from present day Andhra Pradesh introduced the tricolour to that flag in 1931. The flag that we know, and salute today was adopted in 1947.
But, behind the six evolutions of the Indian national flag, and before it became a pride for the nation and a symbol of strength, courage, peace, truth, fertility, growth and auspiciousness are the struggles of millions...
