Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee rose as a leader from the streets through her protests and mass movements, often facing bullets and attacks that even put her life in danger.
So, she sought to connect with the junior doctors who were on protest for over forty days since the horrific rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor inside Calcutta's state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. "I have come from agitations and so, I support protests...," she told the doctors as she tried to convince them of her sympathies for their angst.
