Narendra Modi was sworn in as prime minister at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9, 2024, becoming only the second PM after Jawaharlal Nehru to secure a third consecutive term. But the electorate has sent him back to the Lok Sabha leashed by the limitation of his numbers and at the mercy of his allies.
Modi, who proclaimed himself “not biological” but “sent by God” has been found to be a mortal among us, shrinkable at a jab of the finger. His “400-paar” vanity has shredded, the NDA has lost wind short of 300, and the BJP has lost its majority in the Lok Sabha. The June 4 verdict has effected corrections on the democracy scale and brought in a spirited and inspired Opposition.
