Pradip Das is an ardent football fan from Calcutta, India but he's blind from birth. So, for years, he has trained himself to “hear” football. He not just follows football hearing the sounds on the field and off it, but also runs a football coaching centre for underprivileged children.
He has two loves, Argentina and East Bengal. A regular at all East Bengal matches when they play on their home ground, Das, now 55, has been attending matches since 1997. But before that, for eight years, he had confined himself in his room in Howrah. Then one day, he stepped out in 1997 and somehow arrived at the East Bengal ground. It was raining hard. Das, unfamiliar with wooden platforms that used to be the stadium’s gallery, was afraid he would fall. He's not anymore.
The Telegraph Online met him during an East Bengal match. This is his story...
