The echoes of the shots that killed Baba Siddiqui on October 12 has jolted Mumbai’s political orbit and the Hindi film industry alike. For Baba Siddiqui was a political powerhouse with strong Bollywood connections.

Siddiqui had just stepped out of the office of his son and Bandra (E) MLA Zeeshan and was walking to his car when the three shooters fired six to seven rounds at him. Siddiqui was provided a non-categorised security and was allotted three police constables. But police said, at the time of the shooting, only one constable was accompanying him.

He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but the doctors couldn’t save him. Siddiqui died at the hospital. Mumbai political leaders and film stars rushed to Lilavati the minute the news of his shooting surfaced.
