If you don’t find that following the lockdown is an uphill task, here is an opportunity to unlock your talents and earn a free holiday in Darjeeling.

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, has announced an online event: “21 Days Big Boss Indoor Challenge – fight against Covid-19” to motivate people to stay indoors.

People from across the country can upload videos or pictures of their indoor activities during the lockdown period.

“They need to upload their posts on our Facebook page, accompanied by a small description. Few top winners will be provided with complimentary stay in Darjeeling,” HMI principal Gp Capt Jai Kishen said.

The HMI competition draws inspiration from the famous television reality show Bigg Boss. Participants in the competition will have to spend days while remaining confined to a given space.

In the contest floated by the HMI, the winner will get an opportunity to stay for five nights and four days at the HMI, Darjeeling, while the runner-up will be hosted for three nights and two days.

The person coming third will be provided with an HMI tracksuit. All entries will win certificates. Also, the top 10 will win mementoes and badges.

Along with this, there are many other awards in the form of HMI souvenirs and goodies. One can write articles on 21 days’ lockdown and email the same to hmidarj@gmail.com.

The best article will be published in the annual journal of the institute and the author will receive free HMI journals for five years.

The HMI is currently hosting a group of 73 trainees who cannot move out of the premises because of the lockdown.

“They started their training on March 2 and even though their session would end this month, they have to stay at the HMI till April 14,” said the principal.

The HMI has also started innovative competition for the boarders.

“We have announced awards like best cleaning warriors group, best indoor athlete, best poetry, best story teller, best sketches and best ‘antakshari’ for our boarders,” Gp Capt Kishen said.
