Under the aegis of chief minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, Chattisgarh has introduced the Godhan Nyay Yojana. The scheme is aimed at economically benefiting livestock owners and generating new employment. As part of the scheme, the government will procure cow dung at Rs 2 per kg from livestock owners, which will be then repurposed into Vermicompost and other eco-friendly items. The same Vermicompost will be made available at Rs 8 per kg to farmers as organic manure. The scheme will also ensure protection of crops from open grazing, and check straying of animals. Equal emphasis will also be given to conserving the environment.
