The Sikkim government on Friday announced that jobs in police services would be provided to all those from the state who completed their four-year service under the new armed forces recruitment policy called Agnipath.

Chief minister P. S. Tamang (Golay) who made the announcement thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Rajnath Singh for the new scheme.

Under the Agnipath scheme, youths aged 17.5 to 21 (but 23 for this year) will be recruited to the armed forces for just four years without pension or ex-servicemen status. Only one-fourth of them would be retained for another 15 years.
