Roshan Prasad, a Sikkim-based philatelist, added another feather to his cap by bagging large silver in the thematic class of Royalpex 2021, a stamp exhibition organised by the Royal Philatelic Society of New Zealand Inc, at the Central Energy Trust Arena, Palmerston North in New Zealand, in end-February.

Prasad’s exhibits were based on the theme “The Story of Cricket” and covered various aspects of the sport. His collectables date back to over 100 years and feature some of the icons of cricket.

“The Story of Cricket” was a five-frame exhibit properly organised on 80 pages according to the Federation Internationale de Philatelie (FIP) rules.

“Through my collection, I had shown the history of cricket from the time it started till the present date,” said Prasad, who hails from Singtam in Gangtok district and is also a member of the Sikkim Cricket Association.

Over 100 stamp collectors from countries like Australia, New Zealand, o and Denmark had participated in the exhibition.

An alumnus of Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, Gangtok, Prasad has been collecting stamps since 2005 and has won several awards both nationally and internationally.

“Apart from philately, I also have a collection of autographs of members of cricket’s Hall of Fame. Out of the 106 inductees into cricket’s Hall of Fame so far, I have the stamps of 93. That apart, I also have collected important documents and materials related to Indian cricket. My dream is to open a cricket museum in Sikkim under the guidance of Sikkim Cricket Association,” he said.
