Sikkim boy and fitness enthusiast for Nepali Roadies

In the grand finale telecast on Monday night, Naseeb Tamang beat co-finalist Roshan Shrestha to win the title

Sikkim boy and fitness enthusiast Naseeb Tamang, 29, on Monday night won Season 4 of “Himalaya Roadies”, which is the Nepali version of the popular Indian television reality show MTV Roadies.

In the grand finale telecast on Monday night, Naseeb beat co-finalist Roshan Shrestha to win the title. In all, there were 18 contestants in this year’s edition of the show that tests the physical and mental endurance of the contestants.

Along with the title trophy, Naseeb received 1 million Nepali rupees and a Yamaha scooter. This season’s Roadies was titled “The season of survival”.

“The journey to Himalaya Roadies for me was not easy. From Sikkim to Kathmandu it was like a roller-coaster ride. I decided to take part in the event to test my inner strength,” Naseeb told The Telegraph over phone from Kathmandu.

Naseeb, who hails from Nimtar village in eastern Sikkim, said he took to fitness seriously at the age of 19. “I had won Mr Ultimate Sikkim contest in 2019 and in the same year had also won a gold medal in the men’s physique category in an event organised by the World Fitness Federation.”

Reality shows telecast on Nepalese television channels enjoy a large viewership in Sikkim and Bengal districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

“The Nepali TV channels provide the youngsters from our region an opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Uttam Gurung, a veteran musician from Darjeeling.
