Northeast states likely to get rain for next five days, IMD says in weekly forecast

Enhanced rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over the northeastern states during the next four-five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weekly forecast on Monday afternoon.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of south peninsular India during the next four-five days, the bulletin said.

Conditions are becoming favourable for the further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from some more parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and some parts of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad & Himachal Pradesh during next two-three days.

Sunday’s trough from Comorin area to Rayalaseema now runs from Comorin area to off south coastal Karnataka in lower tropospheric levels.

A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam & neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels.

Forecast & warnings up to seven days

East & Northeast India: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over the northeast region during the week, the bulletin said.

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over Andaman & Nicobar islands and sub-Himalayan Bengal and Sikkim during the week and Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over the remaining region during the week .

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya on October 3.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh during 30 September to 2 October on 4 October; Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during the week. .

South Peninsular India: Scattered to Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Karnataka.

Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Rayalaseema, Telangana during the week.

Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over coastal & north interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep

on 30 September; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during 30 September to 4 October;

Kerala & Mahe during 30 September to 3 October.

No significant rainfall is likely over northwest, west & central India:during the next one week.
